October was another great month for tourism to Japan from Australia as we saw 24,000 Australians visit, a 32.6% increase from 2013! With the current exchange rate being so favourable, there's never been a better time to visit Japan.

Matsuri in Sydney Matsuri in Sydney is back again at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour on Saturday, 13 December. Improvements to Tax-Free Shopping in Japan
Japan. Tax-free Shop. From 01 October 2014, the items eligible to be purchased tax-free by tourists expanded to include non-consumable items, such as food, cosmetics and medicine. Unlike in other countries, tourists can receive their refund on the spot so they can shop more. Look for this logo! Read more

Northern Nagano Earthquake
Hakuba Ski Resorts in normal operation An earthquake struck the northern part of Nagano Prefecture on 22 November 2014. According to Nagano Prefecture and Hokuriku Shinetsu District Transport Bureau, the ski resorts and the ski lifts in Hakuba and Otari area are not damaged. According to Nagano Prefecture, most of the roads that lead from Nagano City to Hakuba and Otari are unaffected and normally passable. According to East Japan Railway Company, the railroad from Nagano and Matsumoto to Hakuba restarted their normal operation on 25 November 2014.

Autumn at Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art
Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art Autumn has arrived at Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. Works on display include a Rembrandt and modern Western art ranging from Impressionist works of Monet and Renoir to works by Picasso and Chagall, as well as Japanese screen paintings and works of American artists like Mark Rothko and Frank Stella from the latter half of the 20th century.
