Partners Information: Takayama Festival is known as one of the three most beautiful festivals in Japan. It became a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.
The festival is held twice a year; on April 14-15 (Spring Festival) and October 9-10 (Autumn Festival).
The magnificent festival floats are the main attraction. These floats are beautifully decorated with carvings, marionettes, woven curtains, lacquer-ware and bamboo blinds made by master artisans.
Enjoy marionette performances, lion dances and a festival procession of locals wearing traditional clothing.
As night falls, enjoy the view of 100 chochin lanterns brightly lit on the floats lined up on a historical street.
