~JNTO to exhibit at AIME 2012 ~

As part of its strengthened commitment to promoting Japan as a world-class business events destination, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) will showcase Japan at this year’s 20th?anniversary Asia-Pacific Incentive and Meetings Expo (AIME), to be held in Melbourne on 21-22 February at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).

Japan is the ideal location for international conferences and incentive tours with its highly-developed infrastructure, world-class venues and excellent facilities, wide variety of accommodations, wealth of tourist attractions and superb level of hospitality, safety, cleanliness and above all, professionalism.

According to research carried out by UIA (Union of International Associations), Japan was ranked No. 2 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in terms of the number of international meetings it hosted in 2010, with a total of 741.

Besides the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit (to be held in 16-19 April in Sendai and Tokyo), the 67th Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group (to be held in October in Tokyo), Japan will be hosting various large-scale meetings in 2012, including SWIFT International Banking Operation Seminar- SIBOS 2012 (October, Osaka), the ISSCR 10th Annual Meeting (June, Yokohama), and the 23rd Congress of International Society of Urology SIU (September, Fukuoka). Also a number of incentive trips have been confirmed to be held in Japan, a sign that Japan is steadily recovering from the effects of the earthquake almost one year ago.

“This year, representatives from Osaka Convention & Visitors Bureau, Hyogo Prefectural Government and Kyoto Granvia Hotel with J-Team (a DMC) will join us at AIME. Please stop by and visit the Japan Booth at AIME to pick up the latest information on Japan’s convention cities and tourist attractions”, commented Yukio Yamashita, Executive Director, JNTO Sydney.?

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is involved in a broad range of activities promoting Japan as a vibrant, beautiful destination, with unique cultural attractions, exciting cities, and friendly people, through various activities overseas as well as tourism-promoting activities in Japan.
